The importance of reading

  Thesis I personally think that reading is a very important activity in our life. Why do I say so? Argument Firstly, by reading we can get a lot of knowledge about many things in the world such as Science, technology, sports, arts, culture, etc written in either books, magazine, newspaper, etc. Secondly, by reading we can get a lot of news and information about something happening in any parts of the world which can we see directly. Another reason, reading can give us pleasure too. When we are tired, we read books, novel, comic, newspaper or magazine on the entertainment column such as comedy, short story, quiz, etc. To make us relaxed. The last, reading can also take us to other parts of the world. By reading a book about Irian Jaya we may feel we're really sitting in the jungles not at home in our rooms. Recommendation From the facts above, it's obvious that everyone needs to read to get knowledge, information and also entertainment. Or in summary we can say reading is truly...

My Grandpa's Hometown

  My Grandpa's Hometown Three weeks ago, my family and I were in my grandpa's hometown. It is our annual agenda every holiday at the end of Semester. Unfortunately, it was the rainy season there. It rained almost every day there. We didn't have enough time to visit some tourist places there because of the rain. We had not enough sunlight even to dry up our laundry. As a result, we just stayed at home almost all day long. Seeing the condition, we decided to make an interesting activity indoors to spend the holiday together. The activity we chose that day was making funny videos directed by me. Finishing the videos, we edited them and uploaded them to youtube. By doing this, we could kill our boredom of staying at home because of the rain and make a creative activity instead.

Sangkuriang

  The name Tangkuban Parahu, a volcano in Lembang, West Java, means “upturned boat” in the local Sundanese dialect. The name is taken from a local legend that bears similarities to the classical Greek tragedy “Oedipus Rex.” The story’s heroine is an exiled princess called Dayang Sumbi who likes weaving to pass her time. One day, her weaving needle goes missing and she’s too lazy to find it. Instead she makes a wish that she will marry whoever finds the needle for her. A dog called Tumang finds the needle and brings it back to Dayang Sumbi. The dog turns out to be a god cursed to live as a dog. Dayang Sumbi and Tumang marry, and soon their son Sangkuriang is born. Sangkuriang grows up to be a skillful hunter. He hunts with Tumang, but does not know that the dog is actually his father. One day, when he could not find any prey Sangkuriang kills Tumang and brings his liver home.
